What this site is
RunningTrails.net is a free informational directory of running trails, greenways, rail-trails and park trail systems, compiled from publicly available information and runner reviews. We are not affiliated with any park, agency, conservancy, land trust or trail organization listed here, and we don't manage, maintain or control access to any trail.
Trail conditions change
This is the important one. A trail is not a fixed object, and nothing on this page is a guarantee about what you'll find when you get there. Paths flood and stay silted for weeks. Natural-surface trails stay muddy for days after rain, and some parks close them entirely in wet conditions. Gates and parking lots close at dusk, and the posted closing time shifts with the season. Bridges wash out, sections close for construction or logging, corridors get detoured onto roads, surfaces get repaved, loops get rerouted, and access agreements on private land can be revoked without notice.
Always verify before you go — check the park or agency's own page and the most recent reviews for hours, closures, parking and current conditions, especially before a long drive or a run that finishes after dark. Surfaces, distances, route shapes, shade, lighting, hours and amenities shown here are our best read of the available evidence and are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind.
No difficulty rating, and what that means
We deliberately don't publish an Easy / Moderate / Hard rating, because those labels are inconsistent and misleading. What we publish instead — surface, loop distance, route shape, shade, elevation and access — is descriptive information to help you choose, not an assessment of whether a given trail is safe or suitable for you. That judgment is yours.
Run at your own risk
Nothing on this site is medical, fitness, navigational or safety advice, and nothing here is an endorsement of any trail's condition, footing, marking or safety. Trail running carries real risks: uneven ground and rolled ankles, getting lost, weather, water crossings, heat and cold, wildlife, ticks and poison ivy, traffic at road crossings, and cyclists on shared paths. You are responsible for your own safety and for anyone in your care — check conditions, tell someone where you're going, follow each site's posted rules and closures, yield courteously on shared trails, and use good judgment about running alone or after dark.
Reviews and photos
Review excerpts and photos shown on trail pages are drawn from public sources and remain the property of their authors. If you're an author, or you manage a listed trail, and you want something removed, contact us and we'll take it down.
