Confirmed from Alverthorpe Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Green space offering regular & mini-golf, plus tennis, fishing, campsites & a wading pool.
What runners say about Alverthorpe Park
“Awesome, amazing place, I run there every single day and its super well maintained even through the rough winter days.”
“such a beautiful park, I have been going here since I was a little kid, always a good walk.”
We will have to learn more about the rules of parking and who can use the park/trail but we still managed to get in for a nice day at the pond. Tons of geese, bathroom, paved paths with ample benches.
Love this park. Free for Abington residents. Great place for family picnics. There's enough space that it doesn't feel crowded often. The bathrooms are a little dingy, but relatively clean for public park bathrooms. All the playgrounds are at least partly shaded.
Nice paved path thru the woods that is a decent distance for jogging around. Nice picnic areas, playgrounds, and fishing pond. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The deer are do desensitized to humans that they will practically walk right next to you. There are also a lot of turtles by the pond.
It was nice , but was not expecting a man-made lake.I was hoping for a real natural lake. Other than that it was nice little walk.
Trail conditions & character

“The only thing is, dogs or any other animals are not allowed and finding out after a 2 1/2 hour drive to play baseball was quite a shock.”
“Nice paved path thru the woods that is a decent distance for jogging around.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
