Confirmed from Bridge Tar River Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Wow! What a nice walkable trail intermingled with challenging mountain bike trails & rock gardens. Beautiful scenery.

Nice wide footbridge that crosses the River parallel to a train bridge and a local road over pass. The entrance is near an industrial area, the path itself is paved asphalt (other than the wooden bridge). Lots of greenery all around and a nice walking or biking trail.

A nice sturdy wooden footbridge. A nice feel as you jog across or ride your bike/scooter. Ample room because it is wide. Seems very well made. I appreciate being able to see the laminated layers of wood used in the structural design. The view?

My girlfriend and I stopped in while waiting to be able to check in to our Air BnB. We did not walk the whole trail, but we had fun on the bridge and the railroad track. Be sure to check for trains!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
