Confirmed from Brookdale Park & Dog Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Sprawling dog park featuring ponds, a baseball field, plus a playground, picnic tables and walking trails.

What runners say about Brookdale Park & Dog Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (272 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🐕 dog-walking favorite 4 mentions

“Plenty of space for Day-Z and me to play fetch without disturbing other dogs and people walking on the path.”

Small, yet pleasant park to walk around in or even watch little league baseball games.

Awesome place to bring my baby girl! (Boxer Dog) Had a playground for human babies also. Parking lot was nice. Saw a trail but didn't walk it, it was about to get dark and I didn't want to get lost on a new trail. Overall very nice. Was hoping to see the wild life, maybe next time!

Today (4-24-21)while out walking the dog in the park, my girlfriend and I found broken glass. The glass was found in the area were there is fresh dirt. This is the second time this week she found glass, the other was Tuesday or Wednesday. The city of Brooklyn Park was notified of this.

It was great. many nice people. All dogs got along great. My black lab Brook had alot of fun and plenty of room for her to run.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 41 mentions

“Medium sized but good enough for dogs to be running around and having a little pinic on the grass or table with your pup.”

“It has definitely gotten muddy and there is one deep puddle my girls love to get into, but we just bring extra towels and they have the best time.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
