Confirmed from Buckeye Lake State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Swimming, fishing, boating, picnicking & grilling offered in Ohio's oldest state park.
What runners say about Buckeye Lake State Park
“The houses are beautiful, as is the water.”
I haven't been to Buckeye Lake in awhile. I've heard about the improvements concerning the dam and around the boat launches.I also heard about a walking/bike path on the north shore. I went today and walked about halfway and back.
We are so lucky to have this in our area. There is ample parking for both cars and those who bring their boats. You can take the pontoon tours from this park but you need to call the Buckeye Lake Museum to get info first. There is a wonderful 4.
Very peaceful, and spread out for people to do all kinds of different things. I'm sure it is super busy during the summer, we've gone a couple times in early spring and there aren't many people there. If you are there for the trail next to the lake, I recommend parking on the east side.
Perfect place to fish, swim, rent a boat, relax, enjoy the sun, walk the dog… A favorite summer escape.

“1 mile bike/walking paved trail that starts at the park and goes between the row of homes and the water and past the Yaght Club.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
