Confirmed from Butler Lake Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
58-acre park with baseball/football fields, paths & a playground, plus fishing, picnic areas & BBQs.
What runners say about Butler Lake Park
“🐾 PS the baseball fields are always well maintained nicely and if you're lucky you can catch some good tunes playing ; )”
“It's a beautiful place with water features and 2 nice playgrounds and a path for the kids to ride their scooters.”
Kudos to John who maintains the ball park! I was walking around Butler Lake Park with my 2 labs when my 10 year old decided he didn't want to walk anymore, as we neared the garage area I explained my situation.
Love this place. 2 different playgrounds, great running/biking path, and a great small lake for fishing. Plenty of parking. Baseball fields are for leagues only.
My son plays baseball here for Libertyville Little League. The fields are great and nice grounds for a walk. There is also a small park for the kiddos.
A true gem. I grew up playing ball here, and always enjoy walking through seeing the little league games. A beautiful park.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says

- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
