Confirmed from Carey Cottage's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Carey Cottage
“Such a beautiful historic home that has been lovingly restored and put to excellent use again.”
Never been and I live so close and paddle by all the time. Would recommend for kids to walk because it's in the shade partly.
I used to deliver 🗞️ newspapers to this address when I was a kid. I think 🤔 it was an apartment complex. Now I think it is an event/work space where people can stay on work related assignments. The views of Sagamore Creek are superb, especially at high tide!
Great spot for a hike (1.5 mile little loop harbor trail) filled with wonderful views of the ocean and coves. Also clean and cozy accessible public bathrooms, open daily 8am-7pm.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
