Confirmed from Castlewood Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Castlewood Trailhead
Local trail, peaceful, well maintained, beginner/intermediate, some steep hills. Watch for bikes, considerate riders. Overall I enjoyed my hike😁
There are plenty of shades and hills, so it's a great place for hiking and biking. 🚶♂️🏃♂️🚵♂️ 1. A walk east along Castlewood Dr leads to the Nora Kuttner Recreational Trail. 2. Follow the Castlewood Trail and it ends next to the Rosecrans Ave fire station. 3. Rosecrans Trail east to connect Parks Rd Trail. 4.
Easily accessible, the trails are wide and it's not that far away from houses at certain points in the trail but you definitely get that surrounded in nature feel from this trail.
Ran the 9-mile loop called "Parks Road, Rosecrans, Castlewood, and Juanita Cooke Loop" on allTrails on a rainy Friday morning in December. The trails weren't too muddy, and the route was easy to follow. Spent around 1.5 miles on Castlewood trail, going from Rosecrans and connecting to Nora Kuttner.

- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
