Confirmed from Chalk Bluffs Multi-Use Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Chalk Bluffs Multi-Use Trailhead
“It's pretty steep, but there are great views of the river.”
Self serve parking pass will take credit cards. Hiking trails are not hard just very steep. Stay off unmarked trails. Numbered trails on trail map are very well marked. Named trails do not show up on the map. Best bathrooms are just down the road at the horse riding campsite. Bring water and snacks.
Brutal hills, would be great for mountain biking and cross country training. Super fun though and will be back!
Follow the wide ones. The narrow ones are for mountain biking. Lake is super clear, there is one nice access point on the trail, with amazing views of the cliffs and next-level skipping rocks (I think I got 15 or 16 skips off one of em). The hills on the back side of the loop are no joke. I will be going back.
We had a blast hiking this trail. It's pretty steep, but there are great views of the river. It rained the nite before so we were challenged by mud that clung to our boots in layers. We did see lots of wildlife and enjoyed the challenges of skipping and sliding throughout the forest.
