Confirmed from Charles Hegener Memorial Nature Walk's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature, beach area featuring a short trail through lush vegetation that leads to the shoreline.
What runners say about Charles Hegener Memorial Nature Walk
The term hidden gem really applies here. Strip back the lush vegetation and this park is nothing more than a long thin vacant plot of land between to mega mansions on Bay Shore Road. However it oozes character & sense of adventure due to the lush vegatation and canopy of trees. Its like being in Hawaii!
It's just a trail that leads to the water, but it's lovely and peaceful. When the tide is low, you can venture out and check out shells, fossils, crabs, and hermit crabs. Make sure you bring water shoes, waders, or something you don't mind getting muddy. The ground is slushy, mushy, and squelching.
Short nature trail to the bay. The path and vegetation has been spruced up recently. Worth a short stroll only if your passing by on Bay Shore. Only one parking space.
Pretty nice trail that leads to a small shore u can swim or cast off a boat from. Nice art can be seen.
