Confirmed from Charles River Peninsula's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Charles River Peninsula
“Beautiful calm spot to kayak or fish (I think you can fish, don't quote me on that).”
“Nice quiet spot on the Charles with a paddlesports launch to go upstream (there's a dam just past the bridge downstream).”
Very cool park. It made a great stopping point/lunch spot during our kayak trip in the Charles River. Great kayak/canoe landing, benches, and plenty of lawn for picnicking, frisbee, a walk with the dog, etc.
There is a nice path surrounded by the river. Would be 5 stars but it's just too short. If you want a short easy hike this is s good option. But if you want to spend decent time going down trails, then go down the rail trail and Needham Town Forest is a much larger area with a lot more paths.
I almost don't want to post because it's so quiet and scenic! Lots of spots by the water tho hang out and a huge pollinators meadow
Nice quiet spot on the Charles with a paddlesports launch to go upstream (there's a dam just past the bridge downstream). Nice little hiking area as well that's great for running a couple laps or watching the tree swallows zip around.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
