Confirmed from City Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about City Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (404 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“The city park is always clean and there is never broken children playground equipment.”

Perhaps the oldest established park I've ever been in. Bridges built during the Work Progress Administration. Nice little gem. Huge water fountain. It's easy to imagine this park filled with the sound of kids during nice weather. Nice 1/4 mi walking path. Little Free Library also present.

The city park is always clean and there is never broken children playground equipment. It is an excellent place to take a walk, have a picnic, read a book, or let the kids play. I enjoy my lunch at the park several times a month and I appreciate the city keeping it clean for us to enjoy.

Great city park! Lots of activities for kids of all sizes. Plenty of seating and shaded areas. Always good to see parents bringing their kids out, and it's good place for our girls to meet new kids and have someone to play with. The new fitness area is a really nice addition.

This is a great place to walk and kill time if you are waiting on someone at the hospital. There's some nice play ground equipment for the kids, even swings for handicapped in wheelchairs. The bathrooms are questionable, usually there is no toilet paper.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
