Confirmed from Clear Creek Metro Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Clear Creek Metro Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (588 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“There's terrain that ranges from easy to challenging, with both improved and well maintained paths.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“Beautiful place to enjoy nature Some paths not all are designated to walk your dog on.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“Great trails, well marked and parking by all the trail heads.”

Perfect place for an isolated hike. Of you're tired of the crowds at Hocking Hills, this is only about 10-15 minutes away. The trails are more difficult and more primitive, which I suspect keeps a lot of folks away (huge plus in my book). Great place if you're up for a more challenging hike!

I ❤️ Clear Creek. If you don't have time to go down into Hocking Hills, then this is your spot. Bentley and I love the dog trail along the creek. Leaning Rock is along the road to the parking lot. There are several other trails.

★★★★★ — Trailtracker , Oct 2023

For as out of the way as this was, it was popular. Not enough parking. The park rangers came by regularly. Pretty basic, and we didn't go far, just down to the creek with the kids to walk in the water for a bit.

★★★★☆ — Andrew , Sep 2021

Great walking choice if you're looking for an option with stable footing and minimal tripping opportunities. I walked about 6 miles for exercise and enjoyed views of the river and cliffs along the way. I only wish I'd discovered this spot sooner in our week.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 14 mentions

“Great during the summer and spring, good views and a good selection of trails, if your going to hike here during fall and winter be prepared to put in a bit if extra effort.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
