Confirmed from Compounce Mountain and Julian's Rock loop's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Compounce Mountain and Julian's Rock loop

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (8 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

Definitely a challenging hike but well worth it. Parking is at a dead end Street. Slippery going up due to leaves.

★★★★★ — Joan , Nov 2023

Beautiful hike, but definitely come prepared for a steep climb and occasional rock crossings of streams. I didn't do the full loop this time around, but the view from the top is great, and even as an out and back it was a really good hike. Took around two hours to go straight up and back down.

★★★★★ — Jennifer , Jun 2024

It wasn't easy to hike over there, but I loved climbing up the hill and the rocks. However, I was super anxious when I found out there was a black bear around where I arrived; other than that, it was worth it.

★★★★☆ — Ginette , May 2026

Good trail and interesting views down into the amusement park from clifftop.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
