I’ve been to many state parks in Missouri and this is by far my favorite! There’s swimming, camping, boating, equestrian trails, hiking trails, creeks and so much more to explore. So beautiful in the spring, summer and fall.
I took an early morning hike on a cool April Saturday. Early spring wildflowers were beginning to bloom on the forest floor (Dutchman’s breeches, blue and yellow violets, trout lilies and others). And I had this part of the park all to myself- lovely!
Had a great time and a good hike. Went while the leaves weren't out yet, but the air was crisp and clean. We found one tick between the three humans and one dog. Not too bad for being outside for a couple hours. Dogs are allowed on a leash in Missouri state parks, which is really nice.
This is a beautiful park with lots of hiking trails to enjoy the scenery. The lake is nice to walk around too, and there's a beach! Some of the trails are rather narrow. I came home with poison ivy on a summer day, so look out for that.
