Confirmed from Deetz Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Pet-friendly nature preserve offering a network of trails for walks along the Maumee River.
What runners say about Deetz Nature Preserve
“it was beautiful there, but I think they need to mark the trails a little better for half the time.”
“It was so quiet with no one around.”
Jan. 7th 2021 nice cold cloudy day. 36° everything is dead and colorless. Very quite afternoon. This is a beautiful, almost hidden trail. Nestled right along the Maumee River. I've always went to the River Greenway on the other side. From here on out I'll be coming here to. Deetz Nature Preserve.
Very nice park nice trails except for one that you couldn't get through it's very grown up the only problem I have is no restrooms and no place to get water but otherwise very nice very beautiful very tranquil
We went today and although it is fairly nice there are several over grown areas with the trails almost being covered. Hopefully they will get in there and clean those areas up.
I went at the end of summer and it was very beautiful! The paths were a bit over grown though.

“I like to bring my dogs here because usually no one else is there and it feels like you have the whole place to yourself.”
“Was still a little muddy but not enough for any to stick to your shoes.”

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
