Confirmed from DePauw Nature Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about DePauw Nature Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (495 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

“This is a gorgeous, well maintained park with multiple trails to explore.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 12 mentions

“For many years it was illegal to enter the property and now the beautiful terrain is available for all to enjoy.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“But otherwise is absolutely beautiful, quiet, and great for my dog and kids.”

I’m thrilled that this land was acquired and shared with the public. For many years it was illegal to enter the property and now the beautiful terrain is available for all to enjoy.

What a unique and amazing place. Industry used to rule the land here. Now an old quarry had left a unique wetland, high cliffs, and a forest trying to grow from its limestone floor. Trails are 100% maintained. You will definitely want to go back once you experience it for the first time.

★★★★★ — Patrick , Feb 2024

Clean, fun, peaceful, and well taken care of trails. Only negative, most maps I used did not have a "you are here" indicator, which can be helpful for first-time visitors

★★★★★ — Dana , Aug 2024

My wife and I went hiking here, it's absolutely beautiful. From the castle observatory to the 75ft limestone walls it's truly an amazing place to hike!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
