Confirmed from Dogwood Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Dogwood Trail
I walk here often. It’s a great spot. There’s a shorter route and a longer route so you can mix it up based on how much time you have. There’s a little variety of elevation but mostly, it’s a level trail that’s pretty accessible. You do not need to be an experienced hiker to enjoy this trail.
This is a lovely trail that I have done multiple times over the years. It has a long and short route, as well as a connection to the perimeter trail. Occasionally the signs are confusing but you can spend as little as 20 minutes or as long as you'd like circling the area.
Awesome find amidst the concrete jungle! Sunday quick hike to justify brunch at Silver Diner! So quiet and it was unusually cool for July at 70 degrees. We'll be back.
Basic trail about 15-20 minute loop on the shortest trail. A couple board walks and small benches throughout the trail. Minor elevation and mostly just tree and forest scenery.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
