Confirmed from Dredge Lake Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Dredge Lake Trail
“Well kept and pretty clean trails, though watch for dog leavings.”
“Great views of the surrounding mountains and ponds.”
“Great trail to walk the dogs off leash and see some wildlife.”
Good place to take a dog for a walk. Awesome scenery at Moose Lake and Crystal Lake during Autumn.
Good trails, mostly flat, wind around several small lakes south of Mendenhall Lake. Good for hiking, running, biking, photography, and nature strolls. Maps are posted at major trail intersections, so it's hard, but not impossible, to get lost for a bit. Look for beavers, bears, and waterfowl.
Easy flat series of trails with amazing views. Like most trails in juneau there's some wet/muddy areas so waterproof shoes are recommended though not really needed. Your dog will love it, trails are well maintained
Short walk to the trail; also, you can chose to keep walking if you want to. I really love this place.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
