The Duke Island Dam, also known as the Raritan Water Power Canal Headgate Dam, was originally constructed in 1840 to regulate the flow of water in the nearby canal that provided hydropower to downstream industries. The dam we see today is a replacement constructed in the 1950s.
Great place to stop along the way during your run or bike through Duke Island.
Beautiful place to sit and chill but requires a walk to get to. However the walkways are paved so it's accessible to most.
