Confirmed from Ellis Woods Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This is a well maintained park with a variety of short trails (longest might be a mile). There are two playgrounds for varying age children and tables with cover from the weather. There are also pickleball courts, small crushed stone walking track, plenty of parking, and a restroom.

Very beautiful park. Well kept and clean. Nice track and entrance into the woods (trail), hiking. Enjoyed the area this morning very much. Tennis and basketball courts. Outhouse. Pavilion, 4 picnic tables that seat about 8 adults each. Electrical outlets at the four corners.

★★★★★ — Ken , Sep 2021

Nice little park with plenty of parking and seating areas including a shed with picnic tables, two playgrounds for kids, the Little Free Library kiosk, a basketball court, a tennis court, and a few loop trails. The farm trail was the longest and it had medium difficulty level for kids I would add.

★★★★★ — Subhash , Apr 2023

The beautiful nature trail alongside this park provided a 68 foot elevation change with slight hills, stones in natural path. Trail ran alongside pigeon creek and a farm. There is a nice size paved parking lot with a large playground, pavillion, pickleball court and a basketball court.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
