Confirmed from Gibson Mariposa Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (464 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 6 mentions

“It's very clean and offers alot of stuff to do.”

Our everyday go to park!! My pup Marley loves her daily walks here. Gorgeous butterfly park with outstanding mural art work. You can definitely feel a sense of peace, serenity and love here. The butterfly hike is adorable! The skate park is very cool although I don’t skate ☺️

I’ll be upfront. It’s a beautifully themed kids playground about butterflies. Great for dog walking. There’s a water park area, though I went in the winter so not sure if it works. Little library. Green area with a small hill. Skate park. Half court basketball courts. Picnic areas. All in a small residential park.

Nice clean park. I went early Saturday morning. With my pitbull . Just for a little walk. It's a small park . It is dog friendly. They have doggy bags available if your dog needs to go. And please pick up after your doggies please

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

💡 Lit for night running 5 mentions

“There are lights there, so I think you could skate it at night.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
