Confirmed from Glendale Peak Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Glendale Peak Trail Head

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (142 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Great view of downtown LA, Griffith Observatory, and the pacific”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“It's a pretty easy hike from the west side of Griffith Park.”

This is a great trail not far from DTLA. its got a great view from the top and not difficult at all. Amazing views of sunrise and sunset as well as the DTLA skyline. Only downside is that if you go at popular times (e.g. weekends and holidays) it is PACKED.

★★★★☆ — Josh , Oct 2020

Trailhead is easy to find with plenty of parking in the adjacent lots. If there isn't parking there, you can try the lots closer to the Greek Theatre! Also parking is Free! The trail itself isn't too challenging but was a nice walk to the top with alternate routes that connect to other trails.

★★★★★ — Dennis , Dec 2018

I found this hike to be both challenging, but manageable for me. If you take it the whole way up, you'll end up at the top of the highest hill. There are also many ways to turn and adventure. The park has a view of the Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory and the city of L.A.

★★★★★ — Cathy , Apr 2019

Great hike for families and dogs! Enjoyed the nice view and how it connects to other hikes. It's a little busy, but wide enough to keep social distancing.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 18 mentions

“Hiked thru a fire trail and then a somewhat steep uphill on a narrow trail a & got to see some nice views.”
