Confirmed from Glorya Jean Tate Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

So, let's see. It's a park. There's grass, and trees. A playground for the kiddies. A ball field. You know, park stuff. There's no bathrooms, which, and let's be honest here, kids usually need pretty bad. But, hey, it's free. Dogs are accepted, in spite of what the signs say.

When we lived in Marina, this was my son's favorite place to play. He calls it the Sand Park because the ground is covered with fine beach sand from nearby dunes. On a recent visit, he visited all of his favorite places and this was at the top of the list. The playground equipment is in good shape.

Beautiful park. Great for playing with your dogs. Very quiet as well. There is a small playground for young kids as too. Also great for exercise, yoga or walking. Invite your local friends for a quick softball match as well.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
