We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Grand Trunk Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Grand Trunk Trail
“All parts of this trail are beautiful, whether you are at the Westville Recreation area, or on the other side of Sturbridge at Five Bridges road.”
“Took my very energetic dog for a walk here to burn some energy off and it worked i enjoyed the quiet and he liked the squirrels”
All parts of this trail are beautiful, whether you are at the Westville Recreation area, or on the other side of Sturbridge at Five Bridges road. Since this is an old rail trail, it is pretty flat. The scenery is an added bonus!
This is a nice processed gravel trail, level, no pot holes, 10'-12' wide, mostly shaded. I didn't 't clocked the mileage. We were riding fat tire bikes so the trail surface was not a problem, bikes with normal tires may have issues. I plan on going back and when I do I'll check the mileage and get some pictures.
Peaceful, Historical, Beautiful!!! Nice flat trails with exercise stations along the way! Bring your furry friends too!
