Confirmed from Great Bend Hike & Bike Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Great Bend Hike & Bike Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (26 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 5 mentions

“Doesnt have much for shade but was brezzy and peaceful”

This is a 6 mile paved trail along a flood control dike in Great Bend. This means you can make a 12 mile out and back. It is full sun, but always breezy and has the advantage of no road crossings. It's about the only place in town. That said I rarely see anyone on it unless you go in the late afternoon / evening.

I just walked about 15 minutes on the this trail. There is a parking lot at the start point of the trail, you can park your car there.

★★★★★ — Heng , Jun 2019

Great paved trail on the south edge of town. Mostly asphalt or concrete, gravel towards the east end. Parking area for trail access on the west end. Quiet and peaceful.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
