Confirmed from Groton Conservation Trust ---- Blackman Field and Woods' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Groton Conservation Trust ---- Blackman Field and Woods
The Groton Conservation Trust Blackman Field and Woods is better known as the Forest Bells. A short walk (less than 1/2 mile) from Indian Hill Rd are 6 working hand pull bells suspended from tree limps. A tug on each bell produces a pleasant sound.A bit further is a overlook of a small pond.
The Bells were a bit hard to fine as the trail is not marked - fortunately there was a Troop 1 Eagle Scout project from a year or so ago that set up geotags on many of the Groton trails. A quick trip, tons of Great Blue Herons fighting along the way (very dinosaur-like), a nice little trip.
An easy hike - as long as you watch out for tree roots protruding through the path - the chimes are ethereal, wished there were 5 of us to all pull at the same time, to hear if they harmonize or sound the same. Follow the path to the end to see the open view of water, beaver hut, and water lillies.
Another awesome Bell walk. Saw Herons and I sorry and these little birds zipping around and catching bugs?

- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
