Confirmed from Hamus Nature Preserve & Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Beautiful place to walk & explore. The trails were well maintained, & even though it's getting cold, a wide variety of wild flowers were still blooming. The fish food dispensers by the pond were a highlight, and something I've never seen before.

Love this place as I walk it most early mornings during decent weather. A very peaceful place to be. However, one question..When will the bubblegum fish food machines be put out???? Asking for some fish friends!!!

In Marshfield there isn't a lot to do in the city so we come here regularly to be near water. There are wooded and paved trails with various areas to sit. The pavilion is nice three sides enclosed and a large grill. We like the cat tail loop for walking the dogs.

I ended up finding this park just as the leaves were changing color. It was gorgeous. It is small, but if you explore all of the trails you will end up walking a few miles. Definitely a nice little place to go to for a picnic or to just get out of the house.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
