Confirmed from Harriet Island Regional Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Harriet Island Regional Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (790 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“Well-organized event - Minnesota Yacht Club Festival, beautiful views of the rolling hills, great sound, easy to enter and exit with little to no bottlenecking.”

Definitely more of a place for early /Afternoon walks. Perfect to see the sunset or just enjoy a calm day by the Mississippi River . When we visited they had cute painted rocks

Harriet Island regional park is always a great place to enjoy a relaxing stroll with the dogs. There are also many amenities available for all types of activities. They have barbecue grills, picnic tables, tons of green space to fly a kite or a game of frisbee. There is a well maintained playground for the kids too.

Lake Harriet, while a neighbor to Lake Bde Maka Ska, has an entirely different vibe. Harriet is tucked away on the eastern side of Linden Hills. The paths are a little quieter than its neighbor and the public tends to trend a bit older and less diverse.

It's always beautiful down by the river and looking over at downtown St Paul. My dog enjoyed walking around. The river was high from the recent rain so we had to zig zag around the overflow. Available Parking and porta potty onsite.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
