Confirmed from Hazel Woods Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Playful dog-friendly park featuring a large field divided into sections for big and small dogs.

What runners say about Hazel Woods Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (101 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 9 mentions

“Great family atmosphere for sports, a circumference walking path, hidden access to a very clean creek, and the best part: the dog park!”

🌳 shaded & cool 6 mentions

“This is going to be a very nice dog park when the trees grow and provide some shade!”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“This was a great place to take my dog for her first dog park! Everyone was very friendly, respectful and Jovie had the best time.”

I absolutely love this dog park! There’s 3 dog pens; 2 for large dogs, one for small dogs. They also have a walking path around the park! We also go to the creek behind the dog park parking lot to cool off in the summer! It a great place to socialize your dog with other dogs and to play along with other dogs!

My Ava loved running loose. I like the separate sections for large and small dogs. The fire hydrant was a funny addition. Plenty of water but I never allowed my dogs to drink from shared bowls, carry one in vehicle.

In conjunction with the surrounding parks, Hazel Woods gets 5 stars! Great family atmosphere for sports, a circumference walking path, hidden access to a very clean creek, and the best part: the dog park! 3 double-gated grass play pens, one for smaller dogs. Water fountain for people & dogs.

This park is awesome! Beautiful and well kept area! Tons of space to do activities of all sorts and the dog park is also very well kept and clean! Love coming here to just walk around and unwind! One of my favorite places in this area.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 71 mentions

“This is a great park and I am new to coming here, but my concern is the dog poop that I have to pick up besides my own dog’s every single time I go and it seems to get worse.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
