Confirmed from Henry Hudson Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Henry Hudson Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (42 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

A very nice paved 6-7 foot wide trail with trees and grass on one side and rocks, bushes, water and sandy beach on the other. It's wide enough for walks with dogs, children, or a stroller, scooters, bikers, and joggers with traffic going both directions. Dogs must be leashed.

This is a wonderful trail. It is hard to find a nice asphalt trail like this one. The trail is quite long and has multiple sections. The southern section goes through residential areas and is quite rural. The northern section takes you along through homes as you make your way towards the eastern shore.

★★★★★ — Daryl , Jul 2019

This trail is the old track bed for a railroad that pretty much settled this area.

★★★★★ — Todd , Nov 2017

I love walking the trail. It's so nice and peaceful and has a wonderful scenery. I grew up walking the Henry Hudson trail and it seems to get more and more beautiful every year that passes.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
