We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Holbrook Forest Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Holbrook Forest Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (7 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

I've hiked this trail a few times. There are multiple access points including off Salisbury Street as indicated on this map and along Fisher road in Holden. The access off Salisbury Street is relatively new and you can walk the whole distance to Tory Fort Lane and to Donker Farm if you wish.

★★★★★ — Central , Aug 2020

Hike number 3 for the day (December 2022), another town (Holden, #91) in my journey towards 351 (hiking in every city and town in the state). Parked at the lot on Salisbury Street. Took Woonaskochu's Path until the Blackberry trail and turned around when the drizzle started.

★★★★☆ — David , Jul 2025

Despite clear demarcation efforts, we found the meandering crisscross paths from state highway to subdivision not memorable. We didn't get to walk the entire route as posted on the map because it ran directly into KEEP OUT RESERVOIR signage.

★★★★☆ — Brett , Oct 2023

Nice intermediate set of trail. Fully marked trails, but some are shared and we did get crossed up on our way back. Walked through a herd of sheep grazing and around a farm. Will do these trails again. If you have a dog, you cannot use the part of the trail near the farm.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
