Confirmed from Horne Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Horne Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (23 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“It follows a creek for a bit over a mile before turning uphill with fairly steep switchbacks that lead to a beautiful overlook.”

Parking is limited. This trail is great. I like that it has multiple trails branching off from it to explore. As well there is a fairly flate trail. Giving you the option to go on a nice hike or if you feel you want more of a challenge you can do that too. Per the posted signs no bicycles are allowed.

About 15 minutes in, the main trail appears to split to two branches. We took the left one that led to a series of rock climbing along and within the creek (it was dry). It sure would have been exciting for someone who's looking for challenges, but that someone was not us.

Not busy. Water in the creek and ferns galore. Dogs had a great time playing in the water. Here's one pooped pup! There is no signage at the trailhead. It is on Valleystone, not Blackstone like the maps pin said. Here is the start of the trail

A nice trail that follows a creek up a canyon. I visited in late summer, which at the time has no flowing water, but I revisted in February and there was a slight trickle of water. Maybe after a larger storm there is a more flowing waterfall. However, this trail is still awesome.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 8 mentions

“In the winter, after it rains, you might get your feet wet as the trail crosses the steam multiple times, but you'll be rewarded with small waterfalls all along your trek.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
