Confirmed from Independence Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded park with lighted tennis courts, a playground, basketball courts, trails & more.

“From festive Halloween trick-or-treating to moments of reflection under a canopy of trees, it’s a place that feels like home—for everyone.”
Well maintained, great for children play, run and have fun. Lots of space for park, picnic tables, basketball, did not, walked tje, while park, I also listened to someone playing drums, saw people, training boxes and basketball. Great park.
Has something for everyone: a playground for the kids. A trail for the adults. Picnic tables for those who want to relax. The trail seemingly does not have much tree cover as a heads up.
I grew up in Pearland, and remember Independence Park being a bit run down. They have done some huge upgrades and have made improvements, added new features and made a clear effort to increase security, maintenance and landscaping.
I have to admit that I've been spoiled by the John Hargrove and Clear Creek trails which might not be a fair comparison to a park. The park has nice amenities like a playground, a stage/amphitheatre, tennis courts, basketball pavilion and a large dog park.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
