Confirmed from Island Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Island Park
“We've visited here quite a few times over the years and it's always been a peaceful pleasant experience.”

This is a cute little park in Winfield. It actually does have a bout an 8 mile hiking trail and a nature trail that is an easy trail to hike. It’s not as nice as some trails but not too bad. It does have a levee which I thought was cool. I was happy to find a longer trail to hike in Kansas that had some steeper hills.
Unique little spot about 50 min outside of Wichita. Lots of trails at Timber Creek to explore, and you can hear the trains go by in the background. The lights are a must! It's considered good luck if you see big foot in person.
This is incredibly cool that this park exists in a small town in Kansas. It’s amazing, great to walk or for kids, then has connected walking trail and little water park. And in Christmas you can drive the circle for the lighted displays.
We've visited here quite a few times over the years and it's always been a peaceful pleasant experience. We like to walk the nature trails and enjoy the trees, shade and quiet. Can't really go wrong with nice quiet natural open spaces that you can enjoy for free.

“I was delighted to see that the boy fishing with the fishing pole and the fish jumping out of the water light display was still up!”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
