We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of James River Heritage Trail Access yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about James River Heritage Trail Access
“Beautiful well maintained trail with bridges, a waterfall, and a well lit tunnel.”
So amazing! Great 20 mile trail right in the heart of Lynchburg. Beautiful well maintained trail with bridges, a waterfall, and a well lit tunnel. There are several benches, along the way. Beautiful
Wanted to give it a 3 1/2 stars. Alot of the area's are off limits to hike and dead ends. Still has some nice areas to look at but not what we were hoping for.
It was really nice alot of shade and benches to sit on.i have arthritis and would like to see more benches but otherwise my husband and I really enjoyed it.He can ride his scooter on the trail which is really nice.
Really nice trail scenery. Could use some better signage. I hope to return to a longer improved trail.
