Confirmed from Lawton Farm's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wildlife park with trails for viewing birds, plus a stream with a bridge.
What runners say about Lawton Farm
“Lawton Farm is a beautiful place to hike but it is not a dog park - it is a grassland nesting bird conservation area.”
“It's absolutely peaceful and an excellent place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours”
“Nice easy walk through a mowed path(s), beautiful nature/bird walk.”
“Rhode Island offers PLENTY of other beautiful walks that are dog-friendly during the warmer months:)”
NOT A DOG PARK!!! It is a former farm where you can hike. Beautiful and well maintained! If hiking with a dog it MUST BE leashed. For two reasons: if they poop you need to pick it up! And some dogs on leashdo not like strange dogs running up to them! We don't want to lose this beautiful place to walkout dogs!
Lawton Farm is a beautiful place to hike but it is not a dog park - it is a grassland nesting bird conservation area. If you bring your dog ( Sept. through March only) please keep it on a leash and pick up after it. Thank you.
I've been hiking around this area for 50yrs watching its continuous changes...for good & bad. Happy to have such an openspace for recreation. Nice to meet Ron & his chocolate lab too.
Absolutely wonderful, I hiked probably 5 miles on the trails! It's absolutely peaceful and an excellent place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours
