Confirmed from Lime Kiln Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Lime Kiln Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (25 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Beautiful place to wander or spend the day.”

Great trail if you want peace and quiet. You probably won't see anyone. Sweeping views of Mingus Mountain, and the red rocks of Sedona. Great for biking, hiking and also trail running. It is also quite a long trail. 13 plus miles I think.

This trail had fantastic flow and I thoughly enjoyed it. We took lime kiln to thumper and had a ton of fun!

★★★★★ — Tyson , Mar 2021

This trail is a little bit hard to locate. There's only one small sign off the main road. It is very moderate with mostly flat land and only small inclines. There are some areas where the water has washed through and left small rocks and there are a few step areas in a bridge.

I did this at sunset and it was wonderful. I did not do the whole trail to Sedona, I stopped shortly after the cattle ranch ( a nice farmer let's you cross through his pastures as part of the trail!) If you love a desert hike with a breathtaking view of the Mingus mountains then this is for you!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
