Confirmed from Lorrimer Sanctuary's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Relaxed nature center with an indoor museum, a self-guided trail system, educational programs and a gift shop.
What runners say about Lorrimer Sanctuary
“This is a beautiful and diverse nature education center in Franklin Lakes, staffed by terrific people.”
Came for the first time today and already looking forward to returning and seeing what's changed! Trails are pristinely kept, and since the Sanctuary is set back from the road, it feels like you're disappearing into the trees.
Went on two Friday walks this year. Had Mary as a guide both times. Her knowledge of the birds, bird calls and plant life was extensive. It’s a beautiful natural area and the building has just been renovated. They were planning a special Saturday on monarch butterflies when I visited.
Went in the winter so the foliage wasn't much, but the people who run the shop were very nice. Small and easy to hike with young childre.
My grandson and I go most Wednesdays. We love the trails and the gift shop. He has quite a collection of plastic snakes.
