Confirmed from Lower Calf Creek Falls' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Misting 126-ft. waterfall featuring a natural pool at its base, reachable by a scenic hike.
What runners say about Lower Calf Creek Falls
“But like I said, we did enjoy the amazing sights along the way, and the waterfall area was cool and refreshing and beautiful!”
“It was about 75 degrees and cloudy and the first half of the trail was hot but the second half is a lot cooler as there is lots of shade and water.”
“Arrive early for good parking to enjoy this well marked and easy to follow with interesting informational markers along the trail.”
“Be aware that while it’s marked as a fairly easy trail much of it is in sand so it’s more work than the miles might indicate.”
Strongly suggest hiking this trail in the morning. We started at noon and the sun and heat were intense. Make sure you bring a lot of water. The waterfall is incredible. It wasn't crowded. Really great experience! Totally worth the 3 mile hike in.
We loved the scenery of this hike, and especially loved the waterfall at the end, but the 3 miles of silty sand on the way there, and 3 miles returning, was tough. We are experienced hikers and did not enjoy hiking through so much sand.
Trail from the parking area to the falls has wonderful views of the canyon walls. Be aware that while it’s marked as a fairly easy trail much of it is in sand so it’s more work than the miles might indicate. We were there when it was cool but I can see in summer it would be hot with limited shade for most of the way.
Awesome hike! You get to travel along Calf Creek, which provides so much life and energy to the area. Definitely pick up a map and follow along with the marked signs on the trail. The waterfall at the end is beautiful also!
