We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of MA NET: Section 03 (Metacomet-Monadnock Trail) yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about MA NET: Section 03 (Metacomet-Monadnock Trail)
This is hardly the most the challenging or scenic section of the 114-mile trek from Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire to the Massachusetts-Connecticut border in Southwick, but combined with Sections 02 and 01 it makes for a satisfying day of hiking.
A beautiful, lesser known and interesting local hiking trail. The first 3rd or so goes through a swampy area so use bug spray. I only give it a 4 star review because the parking situation can be difficult and confusing at either end.
Although I hate that the trail was rerouted some years ago, it is still a classic treasure of Western MA.
