Confirmed from Mandalay National Wildlife Refuge's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Thousands of acres of marshland, accessible only by boat, harboring threatened & endangered species.
What runners say about Mandalay National Wildlife Refuge
“Its so beautiful it is eight off a highway but they have lull over slots I thought it was cool never seen the rare bird that's suppose to live there.”
“It's quiet and peaceful, very green.”
Nice trail, I recommend walking in a group of two or more. You definitely can see wildlife while on a walk. It's quiet and peaceful, very green. It's about a 1 mile walk to the end and 1 mile back. Lots of mosquitoes, so don't forget bug spray. Parking is okay, there's not that much room. I would definitely come again.
Great trail for spotting reptiles and amphibians, we walked the trail in the early afternoon looking for critters. Came across 10+ cottonmouths, a copperhead, ratsnakes, mudsnakes, gartersnakes and plenty of different skinks and frogs. As well as a few nutria and squirrels. Very nice trail.
Incredible short trail. A little muddy. We saw Yellow Rumped Warbler, an Osprey chasing off an American Eagle, White Ibis, Great Egret, Cat Bird, and spectacular vegetation. Walk slowly and observe.
Neat little nature trail. It isn't very long, but you will probably get to see some local wildlife.
