Confirmed from Metter Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring a playground, tennis and pickleball courts, and a library, plus a farmers market.
What runners say about Metter Park
“We had a Celebration for my GrandLoves 2nd Birthday 🎂🎉 The Park is really nice with Clean Restrooms for little ones.”
“But the shaded playground and grounds are nice and clean and it's right next to the public library.”
I enjoy it's close to home for us. I love that the playground is covered with a shade net. This playground is ideal for younger smaller children. As a parent, I like that I can walk the path and watch my kids too! The bathrooms are also well maintained.
Great, smaller venue to visit with areas to sit, eat, play, and walk (paved path around park). The events our family has attended there have all been absolutely wonderful and Columbia is a fabulous & welcoming community!😊
This a nice little city park next to a library. There's a covered playground, tennis and basketball courts, a gazbo, picnic tables, and a nice paved walking trail with access to other walking or biking trails. There's also seasonal restrooms and free parking. The park was clean and pretty. It appears well maintained.
Great playground, with some covering over it which helps it stay shady in the summer. Walking path, fountain, picnic tables and next door to the Columbia library.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
