Confirmed from Mike Levine Lakelands Trail Herb Amster Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Lots of peace and quiet with no shortage of nature to enjoy.”

Great trail! Lots of peace and quiet with no shortage of nature to enjoy. Trail is hard packed gravel and very smooth. The park itself is nice and so is the parking lot. Definitely recommend checking this gem of a path out. Not very people-y.

Nice big parking lot and a beautiful ride down the lakelands trail. Lots of nature and wildlife. Definitely recommend this trail if you enjoy biking, walking, or running.

I discovered to my pleasant surprise on 9/17/22 (during my across Michigan ride this year 9/14-9/19) that the trail is extended(but not opened at that time) from this trailhead south/west ending at Parnall Rd, or so I was told by workers placing Prison Property signs along the trail extension.

This trail is a great dirt trail. The dirt is hard packed and has lots if wild life to look at as you ride or walk. I took my brother, step daughter and son out bike riding 2 weeks ago and we loved it. We will be returning again to go further next time and to get more pictures.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🪨 Crushed gravel / limestone 7 mentions

“Heading southwest, the trail is crushed gravel and offers many viewing spots for wild life.”
