Confirmed from Miller Woods' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve featuring kid-friendly hikes, and trails.
What runners say about Miller Woods
“Very soft easy walking path loops through old growth forest.”
Miller Woods is a beautiful little spot that I have very fond memories of from my childhood. Good year round for a short nature walk, but the absolute best time is in Autumn. Be sure to check it out when the trees are at peak color! It's very small, so no need to put on your hiking boots or pack any gear.
Really great trail for getting kids acquainted with the woods and hiking. I enjoy the signage that labels trees and there are regular walks that you can go on with a guide for free. Watch out for a sign advertising the guided hikes.
It is nice to see that there are some trees available in a city where there aren’t many trees. It’s fun to break sticks and inspect trees. It’s also fun to take a walk at a very fast pace.
It's a beautiful walk in a forest that has been untouched by mankind. It's a beech tree forest. I learnt so much, you should visit this place.
Trail conditions & character

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
