Confirmed from Monmouth Battlefield State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Historic park including a restored Revolutionary War battlefield, trails & a visitor center.
What runners say about Monmouth Battlefield State Park
“Clean facilities, large parking lot, nice welcome center, plenty of picnic tables.”
“Beautiful park, visitors center was awesome, went for the reenactment of the Battle of Monmouth, did not disappoint!”
“Really nice state park, lots of area to spread out and walk dogs, lots of rilling hills and farm land surround this quiet place.”
Just 2.5 miles from downtown Freehold off Rt. 33, it was here where the largest field artillery duel of the American Revolutionary War took place, and the British army took a major setback.
So much history here amid a beautiful state park. The grounds are expansive and there are many trails to walk. Some trails are woodland trails, easily navigated and well marked. Others are through the open fields where once history was made in 1778. The woodland trails start near the museum.
Really nice state park, lots of area to spread out and walk dogs, lots of rilling hills and farm land surround this quiet place. There is also plenty of area to set up picnics and picnic tables. Because of COVID19 you are unable to go to the museum but the rest rooms are fully open from 11a-3p.
Even though it is mostly known and named after the historical Battle of Monmouth in June 1778 during the American War of Independence, the park serves as a vast recreational area with vast stretches of preserved nature land offering walking, hiking, and picnic activities.
