Confirmed from Moon Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Moon Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (270 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“There are big trees that offer a lot of shade and some benches and tables if you need them.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“This little Park is nice and peaceful.”

This little Park is nice and peaceful. The grass is green and beautiful. There's a few picnic tables, plenty of shade, and two small playgrounds. The best feature is the moon! Once you see it you'll know what I mean.

This is our local park. NO restrooms but there are picnic areas and it is a great place to get onto the Santa Ana River Trail and head to the ocean. It has two playgrounds for toddlers and for littles. We often head over to just get outside and get under a shade tree in the summer.

★★★★★ — Seve , Apr 2019

Perfect rest stop if you're on the Santa Ana River trail. There are big trees that offer a lot of shade and some benches and tables if you need them. Exercise proper signaling when you're pulling off or getting back onto the trail! There is a tunnel leading away from the beach and it can be hard to see riders!

★★★★★ — M , May 2020

Nice neighborhood park off of the Santa Ana river trail. There is a large concrete 'moon' that is within this park that is pretty neat. Moon craters and all. A 5-12 kids play area is also available. Park is a little I the smaller side, but a nice rest stop with water fountain available.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🚻 Restrooms 6 mentions
