Confirmed from Munn Woods Trail Access - Hickory's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Munn Woods Trail Access - Hickory

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (14 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

A great place to hike just a few blocks west of campus. Main trail follows a stream in a ravine. There are several access points to the trails, an typically park on the residential street near the trIl heads.

★★★★★ — Mike , Feb 2021

Always been one of my favorite places, though the trails are a bit questionable in some spots these days.

★★★★☆ — Ryan , Jan 2018

A perfect escape for nature lovers. Absolutely must try trail in Ames. From my opinion, this is should be number one trail in all of Ames. Super peaceful, full of nature, and great for a relaxing walk. If you love trails, you definitely need to try this one. ( I visited during the beginning of Fall season)

★★★★★ — Connected , Aug 2025

Really nice place to just get away and go for a walk. Trails are short and pretty. Some wildlife around, I found a family of deer. There are some nice water features. Only real complaint is the lack of signage led me to accidentally trespass like five times and think I had to walk through the water.
