Confirmed from Observation Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Observation Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (25 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Draper lake has the toughest bike trails if you're looking for a challenge. There are massively steep hills and slopes and about 13.75 miles from start to finish. If you want a casual ride, go to Hefner lake or use the river trail along i40.

★★★★★ — Steve , Aug 2021

Excellent paved bike and hike trail. It does have some hills to strengthen your workout but not overly challenging. Another plus is that the the trail has distance markers which could be useful If there was a necessity for a 911 call. Be especially careful when going through the recreation area

★★★★★ — Lawrence , Aug 2022

Good place to start if you're planning on running or biking around Draper Lake. The trails connect right up to the parking lot.

★★★★★ — Swervinthrulife , Nov 2024

The 13+ mile paved biking road offers one he11 of a ride, be prepared for the dam portion of the ride, goes HAM. 1st time road biking so if your in decent shape and have plenty of electrolytes and carbs you got it 👍

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
