Confirmed from Ozark Rivers Audubon - Nature Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Ozark Rivers Audubon - Nature Center

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (201 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Has a restroom but it’s a portable toilet and not very clean so I would skip using the restroom in it.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“Beautiful area of three lush trails (three different types of terrain/habitat).”

This is a pleasant natural area. We stop for picnics on drives between St. Louis to Springfield. There are lots of wildflowers in the woods. We like the whiteboard they have with markers for people to post what they find on their visit. We have walked some of the trails and enjoyed the scenery.

Take a photo of the map before you take off. The trails merge at some points and are loops therefore easy to walk in circles.

★★★★★ — Mitchie , Aug 2018

There are two trails. Liked the trail in trees. Good for bird watching, in particular the hummingbirds.

★★★★☆ — Raghu , Jul 2023

Is a decent place and a decent walking trail that’s not too hard. Several individual bridges to walk over. Can see several wildlife and all the trees along the trail have QR codes you can scan that will tell you interesting facts.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🔁 Loop trail 2 mentions

“There is a prairie restoration loop and also a large loop inside the woods with multiple paths, which takes me about 20 to 40 minutes to go around depending on my route.”

Flat & fast 2 mentions

“The Audubon is tucked away past a neighborhood, and on the other side of hills from the interstate, so the noise level is unbelievably low.”
